지난 17일 교육부와 한국교육개발원이 대학구조개혁위원회 심의를 거쳐 발표한 2021년 대학 기본역량 진단 가결과에 따르면 대구·경북의 9개 대학이 일반재정지원 대학에 선정되지 못했다.
선정되지 못한 대구·경북의 9개 대학 중 4년제 일반대학은 김천대학교, 대신대학교, 동양대학교, 위덕대학교 등 4개 대학이며 전문대학은 경북과학대학교, 대구공업대학교, 성운대학교, 수성대학교, 호산대학교 등 5개 대학이다.
교육부는 가결과를 바탕으로 1주일간 이의신청을 받아 검토한 뒤 이달 말 결과를 확정할 예정이며 평가는 대학의 발전계획과 성과, 교육여건, 대학운영의 책무성, 교육과정 운영, 학생 지원, 교육성과 등 6개의 항목으로 결과를 도출했다.
이번 대학역량진단평가에서 일반재정지원 대학으로 미선정 된 대학은 오는 2022년부터 2024년까지 3년간 대학혁신지원사업에 참여해 사업비를 교부받을 수 없게 된다.
다만 산학협력 등 국가 및 지자체의 특수 목적 재정 지원과 국가장학금, 학자금 대출은 지원받을 수 있다.
