대구가톨릭대(총장 우동기)가 로봇산업을 선도할 융합인재 양성을 위한 ‘산학융합 로봇캠퍼스’를 조성한다.
경산산학융합지구 조성사업은 대구가톨릭대가 경북경산산학융합원과 함께 경산지식산업지구에 국비 118억 원, 경북도 36억 원, 및 경산시 84억 원 기타 69.8억 원 총 사업비 307.8억 원를 투입해 오는 2023년까지 연면적 3천395㎡ 4층 규모의 연구·강의동과 기업연구관(연면적 3천864㎡ 5층), 문화복지관(연면적 900㎡ 3층)을 조성하는 사업이다.

‘산학융합 로봇캠퍼스’가 완공되면 대구가톨릭대는 전자전기공학부의 제어공학전공, 기계자동차공학부의 로봇시스템전공뿐만 아니라 보건의료계열, 사회과학계열 등 여러 학과와 연계해 생활서비스로봇전공, 헬스케어로봇전공, e-모빌리티전공, 재난대응로봇전공, 스마트팩토리전공을 신설하고 자동화시스템, 의료, 물류, 재난, 생활서비스 등 다양한 분야의 로봇산업 전문 인력을 배출할 계획이다.
해당 사업은 재난안전로봇 현장 활용성 증진을 위한 기술 개발에 주력하고 있는 경북도와, 지역을 로봇산업 선도도시로 육성하고자 하는 대구시의 국가로봇테스트필드 혁신사업과 연계해 큰 시너지 효과를 얻을 것으로 기대된다.
아울러 대구가톨릭대는 경북도, 경산시 뿐만 아니라 지역의 로봇산업 관련 기관들과 MOU를 추진하여 로봇 연구개발과 캠퍼스 내 로봇기업 유치, 지역 기업의 서비스 로봇산업 진출을 적극 지원할 계획이다.
