대구시교육청(교육감 강은희)이 2025년까지 관내 초·중·고·특수학교 모든 교실에서 기가급 무선 인터넷을 사용할 수 있도록 인터넷 망 구축에 나선다.
코로나19로 인해 원격수업이 보편화되면서 교실 수업환경이 변화되고, 온·오프라인 연계 교육 등 다양한 교육방식을 요구하는 학교가 급증해 조속한 교실 무선 인터넷 구축이 필요해졌다.

이에 대구시교육청은 일부교실에만 구축된 기가급 무선망을 모든 교실로 확대하고, 1학생 1스마트기기를 보급한다고 밝혔다.
올해는 약 40억 원의 예산을 투입해 관내 학교 2천676실에 무선망을 구축하고, 교내 석면제거 공사 등으로 제외된 학교의 3천275실은 2025년까지 구축할 계획으로 사업이 완료되면 대구지역 2만3천535개 교실에서 기가급 무선망을 사용할 수 있게 된다.
또한 최신 에듀테크 활용 교육을 지원하기 위해 올해 약 100억원의 예산으로 21,918대 스마트기기를 추가 보급하며 2025년까지 총 202,806대를 보급해 1학생 1스마트기기 보급을 완료할 계획이다.
강은희 교육감은 “올해에 이어 내년에도 교실 무선망 고도화 및 스마트기기 보급 사업을 연속적으로 추진하여 원격수업을 넘어 블렌디드 러닝 수업 및 에듀테크 활용 수업이 더욱 활성화 되도록 하겠다.”고 했다.
