산업통상자원부(산업부)와 한국수력원자력(한수원)이 2016년까지 발행을 이어온 원전백서(白書)가 문재인 정부 출범 이후 벌써 5년째 발간이 되지 않고있는 것으로 나타났다.
백서 발간 중단 문제는 이미 지난해 과학기술정보방송통신위원회(과방위) 국감에서 지적 된 바 있다.
산업부는 자료를 통해 `17년 이후 원전 관련 주요 정책변화로 백서에 추가·보완이 필요하여 지속적으로 관계기관들과 함게 세부 내용에 대한 검토 보완 작업을 진행하여 왔으며, 현재 검토중에 있다’고 원전백서 발간 중단 사유를 밝히며 ‘2020년 백서는 발간할 예정’이라고 설명했지만 최근까지도 원전백서는 여전히 발행되지 않고 있다.

이에 국민의힘 정희용 의원(경북 고령·성주·칠곡)은“2016년 백서에서 탈원전의 부작용과 신재생에너지의 비효율성을 지적하고 있다”면서 “전력수급기본계획은 핑계에 불과하고 실제로는 탈원전 정책에 대한 비판 내용을 싣기 부담스러워서 차일피일 미루고 있는 것으로 보인다”고 꼬집었다.
실제 2016년 발간된 마지막 원전백서에는 원자력 발전의 당위성과 탈원전에 대한 비판내용이 다수 실려있었다.
현 정권의 탈원전 정책과 백서의 내용적 특성을 고려해 의도적으로 백서 발간을 미루는 게 아니냐는 의구심이 지속적으로 제기되는 가운데 정희용 의원은 “지난해에 이어 올해에도 국정감사를 통해 이 문제를 지적하겠다”고 밝혔다.
