경북교육청(교육감 임종식)이 ‘경상북도교육청 발명체험교육관(이하 발명체험교육관)’ 건립 사업의 순조로운 진행 소식을 전했다.
전국 최초로 구축되는 발명체험교육관은 창의·융합형 발명교육을 체계적으로 지원하기 위한 특허청 공모사업으로 경주시 황남동 황리단길 인근에 위치한 옛 황남초등학교 부지에 구축된다.

경북교육청은 전문발명교육기관으로 거듭나기 위한 중장기 운영계획을 수립하고 더욱 내실 있게 추진할 예정으로 2020년 12월 리모델링 건축공사를 시작하였으며 현재까지 여러 시설사업이 차질 없이 순차적으로 진행되고 있다고 밝혔다.
발명체험교육관은 체험형 창의발명교육과정, 발명지식전문교육과정 개발·운영, 찾아가는 발명교육, 미래 발명인재 양성 프로젝트 운영, 교원의 발명교육 지도역량 강화, 테마가 있는 발명콘서트, 지역민 함께하는 생활 속 발명문화 확산 등 18개 중점 과제를 추진하게 된다.
임종식 교육감은 “발명체험교육관은 대한민국 발명교육의 중심지 역할을 할 수 있는 인적·물적 인프라를 구축하여 지식재산권 창출을 위한 체계적인 발명교육과 프로그램의 개발 및 보급, Hands-On 중심 특화된 전시체험교육, 발명교육 강사 인력 양성, 발명교육 정책연구 등을 수행할 수 있는 발명전문교육기관으로 성장시키겠다.”고 밝혔다.
