김승수 의원, “국가관광전략회의 사실상 개점휴업 상태"

국민의힘 김승수 의원(대구 북구을, 문체위 간사)이 “국가관광전략회의가 사실상 개점휴업 상태에 있다”며 “문체부의 심각한 직무유기”라고 지적에 나섰다.

김승수 의원이 밝힌 바에 따르면 대한민국 관광진흥 및 육성을 논의하는 최고회의인 국가관광전략회의(이하 전략회의)가 지난해 5월 이후 단 한 차례도 개최되지 않은 것으로 드러났다.

전략회의는 관련 규정에 따라 연 2회, 반기에 1회씩 개최하도록 되어있다. 이에 따라 2017년 첫 회의 이후 2018년 1회, 2019년 2회, 2020년 1회 등 총 다섯 차례동안 꾸준히 개최되었으나 작년 5월 이후에는 전략회의를 단 한차례도 열리지 않은 것으로 확인된다.

이에 김승수 의원은 “현재 관광사업자의 존폐위기로 관광업에 종사하는 30만 종사자는 물론 관광업계 전체가 전반적으로 크게 흔들리고 있는 가운데 관광산업의 국가 최고 컨트롤타워라는 국가관광전략회의는 사실상 개점휴업 상태에 있다”며 “아무런 역할을 못하는 무늬만 위원회가 무슨 필요가 있느냐”며 정부를 강하게 비판했다.
