브레이크뉴스 정명훈 기자= 이재명 더불어민주당 대선 후보는 8일 "매타버스(매주타는민생버스)로 전국을 순회하며 듣는 이야기가 민주당이 매우 느려진 것 같다, 기득권이 된 것 아니냐고 말씀하신다"며 당 내 제도 개혁을 강조했다.
이재명 후보는 이날 오전 서울 마포구 가온스테이지에서 열린 정당혁신추진위원회 출범식에서 "국민들이 느끼기에 민주당이 많은 의석으로 국민이 당면한 현안 과제를 신속, 과감하게 처리할 거라 기대했는데 기대에 충분히 미치지 못한 것 같다"며 이같이 밝혔다.
그는 "민주주의 사회에서 대화와 타협을 통해 합의와 결론을 이끌어내는 게 바람직하지만, 성과내는 것을 방해해서 정치적 이익, 반사이익을 위한 발목잡기라면 극복해야할 일"이라며 "이를 극복하기 위해 다수결의 원칙도 작동한다고 생각한다"고 설명했다.
이어 그는 "그래서 의석수가 중요하다. 국민은 거기에 대해 일정한 책임을 묻고 권한을 부여하는 것"이라며 "하지만 저 역시 민주당이 국민의 기대에 미치지 못한 게 현실이라는 점을 인정하지 않을 수 없다. 깊이 성찰하고 반성하고, 부족한 점을 메워 새출발해야 한다"고 강조했다.
그러면서 "플랫폼 정당으로 국민께서 의견을 자유롭게 개진하고 국민의 의사를 기민하게 정치에 반영하는 정당으로 잘 만들어가 주길 부탁한다"고 덧붙였다.
이 후보는 또한 민주당이 지난 총선 승리를 위해 비례대표 의석 확보용 위성정당을 만든데 대해서도 "기상천외한 편법으로 여야가 힘들여 합의한 대의민주주의가 후퇴한 것 같다"면서 "국민의 주권의지가 제대로 반영되도록 위성정당을 불가능하게 만드는 조치도 필요하다"고 꼬집었다.
이와 함께 '당내 민주화 문제'도 해결해야 할 과제로 꼽았다. 그는 "정당의 주인은 당원인데 당원 의사가 제대로 반영되는 건 매우 부족한 게 사실"이라며 "정당 민주화를 위한 제도개혁에도 충분히 논의해달라"고 당부했다.
혁신위원장을 맡은 장경태 의원도 "지금의 민주당으로는 국민들의 신뢰와 당원들의 지지는 없다"며 "완전히 국민에게 맞춘 과감하고 날렵한 개혁이 민주당의 역사이고, 이재명 정신"이라고 강조했다.
장 의원은 이어 "스마트 정당, 시스템 정당으로 발전해 온 민주당은 2022년에는 데이터 정당으로 거듭나겠다"며 "인재 육성, 데이터 구축, 국민 소통 강화라는 3대 원칙은 미래 비전이자 정당 운영의 패러다임이 될 것"이라고 밝혔다.
