브레이크뉴스 정명훈 기자= 윤석열 국민의힘 대선후보가 17일 아내 김건희씨와 관련된 허위 경력 의혹 등에 대해 공식 사과했다.
윤석열 후보는 이날 당사에서 국민후원회 발족식을 가진 후 기자들과 만나 "제 아내와 관련한 논란으로 여러분께 심려를 끼쳐 죄송하다"고 밝히며 고개 숙여 사과했다.
그는 "이유 여하를 불문하고 경력 기재를 정확하게 하지 않고 논란을 야기하게 된 것 그 자체만으로도 제가 강조해 온 공정과 상식에 맞지 않는 것임을 분명히 말씀드린다"면서 "국민여러분이 저에게 기대하시는 바 결코 잊지 않겠다. 과거 저의 일관된 원칙과 잣대, 저와 제 가족에 대해서도 똑같이 적용돼야 한다"고 강조했다.
이어 그는 "아내와 관련된 국민의 비판을 겸허히 달게 받겠다"면서 "더 낮은 자세로 국민께 다가가겠다. 죄송합니다"고 다시한번 고개를 숙여 사죄했다.
윤 후보는 '당 내에서도 부인 관련 수사를 받아야 한다는 이야기가 나온다'는 질문에 "이 사과를 여러분들이 받아주시고 법과 원칙이라는건 누구에게도 예외가 없다는 지금의 말로 대신하겠다"고 답했다.

이와 관련 이양수 중앙선대위 수석대변인은 "이번 사과는 윤 후보가 전격적으로 결단한 것"이라며 "현재 부인 관련 여러 상황들이 너무 오래전 일이라 일일이 사실관계 확인이 쉽지 않지만 일단 전체적인 부분에 대해 국민들께 심려를 끼쳐드린 것에 사과말씀 올리는 것이 낫다고 판단하셨다"고 배경을 설명했다.
다만 그는 김건희씨가 직접 사과할 의향이 있는지 묻는 질문에는 "우리나라 역대 대통령 후보 배우자가 직접 사과한 예는 없다"며 "대통령 후보가 본인 가족, 아내문제를 본인이 안고 본인 책임하에 사과하는게 일반적 예였다. 이번 사안과 관련해 나중에 배우자께서 혹시 또 사과하는 기회가 있을 순 있겠지만 우선은 후보 본인이 사과하는게 맞다고 결단하셔서 한걸로 안다"고 설명했다.
