브레이크뉴스 정명훈 기자= 이준석 대표와 조수진 최고위원간 갈등과 관련, 윤석열 국민의힘 대선후보까지 나서 중재를 시도했으나 결국 이 대표는 선대위 내 모든 직책을 내려놨다.
앞서 조 최고위원은 전날 밤 SNS를 통해 "이준석 대표님에게 사과드린다"는 내용의 글을 올렸지만, 이 대표는 "기가 차는 사과"라며 받아들이지 않았다.
이에 윤석열 후보는 조 최고위원과 전화 통화로 이준석 대표를 직접 찾아가 사과할 것을 지시했다.
윤 후보는 이날 한국과학기술단체총연합회 간담회 참석 후 기자들과 만나 "(조수진 최고위원과) 통화는 한 번 했다"며 "경위 여하를 따지지 말고, 당 대표고 상임선대위원장이니까 이 대표에) 사과를 하라고 했다"고 밝혔다.
윤 후보는 이어 "조수진 공보단장이 이 대표를 찾아가서 잘 정리를 하겠다고 얘기 했으니 저는 잘될 것으로 기대하고 있다"며 "이 대표를 찾아가 잘 사과를 하고 관계를 잘 매듭짓는 것이 당과 정권교체를 위해서 바람직한게 아니냐. 제가 보기에는 두분 다 이 문제가 원만하게 잘 정리되지 않겠나"라고 했다.
김종인 총괄선대위원장도 국회 의원회관에서 기자들과 만나 "제가 판단하기에는 (조 최고위원의) 발언 자체가 잘못된 것 같다. 그래서 그 사태를 수습하기 위해 원인을 제공한 사람들이 잘못을 시인하고 사과를 해야한다"면서 "오전에 조수진 공보단장에게 이 대표에게 사과하라고 부탁했다"고 전했다.
하지만 이준석 대표는 윤 후보의 중재에도 사과를 받아들이지 않았다.
이준석 대표는 앞서 요구한 조 최고위원의 거취결단 요구가 이행되지 않자, 이날 오후 4시 기자회견을 갖고 중앙선거대책위원회 공동상임선대위원장직과 홍보·미디어총괄본부장직에서 사퇴하겠다고 밝혔다.
이준석 대표는 기자회견에서 "선대위 구성원이 상임선대위원장의 지시를 따를 필요가 없다고 한다면 이것은 선대위 존재의 필요성을 부정하는 것"이라며 "오히려 당 대표를 조롱하는 유튜브 방송 링크를 취재하는 언론인들에게 보냈다는 것을 확인하는 순간 확신이 들었다"고 사퇴 배경을 설명했다.
이 대표는 특히 "조수진 최고위원이 어떤 형태로 사과해도 받아들일 생각이 없다"면서 공보단장이 당 대표 비난 내용이 담긴 유튜브 영상 링크를 기자들에게 전달한 행위는 사과나 해명이 아니라 징계의 대상이라고 지적했다.
