[브레이크뉴스=이성용기자] 창원시는 국토교통부 주관 ‘2021년 지속가능 교통도시 평가’에서 최우수상(기관상)에 선정됐다고 23일 밝혔다.
지속가능 교통도시 평가는 국토교통부가 ‘지속가능 교통물류 발전법’에 따라 인구 10만 이상의 전국 75개 도시를 4개 그룹으로 나누어 평가한다. ▲친환경 교통수단의 보급 ▲교통수요 관리 강화 ▲교통의 안전 및 형평성 제고 ▲비동력·무탄소 교통수단 활성화 ▲교통인프라 구축 ▲효율적 교통체계 구축 등을 평가해 우수 지자체를 매년 선정하고 있다.
시는 인구 30만 이상의 도·농복합도시인 ‘다 그룹’에서 최우수상을 수상했으며, 전기차 및 수소차 등 친환경 교통수단의 보급, 교통안전 시설물 설치, 안전한 보행환경 조성사업, 공영주차장 조성사업 등 교통정책 평가에서 높은 평가를 받았다.
또한 사람 중심의 안전하고 쾌적한 교통환경 조성을 위해 다양한 시책을 펼친 결과 2018 ~ 2019년 최우수, 2020년 우수, 2021년 최우수상 등 4년 연속 수상했다.
