지행포럼(공동대표 권기식) 주최하는 대구 시민토론회가 14일 오후 대구시 중앙대로 대구공익지원센터 상상홀에서 열렸다. 토론회 주제는 '한국 사회의 위기, 언론의 양심'. 이날 토론회에는 권기식 지행포럼 공동대표(서울미디어대학원대학교 석좌교수, 한중도시우호협회장)와 이덕수 지행포럼 운영위원장(전 성남참여자치시민연대 대표), 박해전 사람일보 회장(전 한겨레신문 창간기자), 오홍석 한국은퇴연구소 이사장(전 경북일보 기자) 등이 주제발표를 했다.
권기식 지행포럼 공동대표는 "1인 미디어 출현과 사회관계망서비스(SNS), 인터넷 언론 증가 등 언론환경의 변화와 자본의 편집권 침해 등으로 한국 언론이 위기를 맞고 있다"며 "언론의 제자리 찾기와 국민의 신뢰회복을 위해 언론인 윤리교육 강화, 포털 규제, 자본의 편집권 침해 방지, 손해배상 제도 강화, 풀뿌리 언론 공적 지원 등 대책과 함께 언론 소비자인 시민들의 감시운동 등이 필요하다"고 말했다.
이덕수 지행포럼 운영위원장은 "성남에서 시민사회와 지역언론이 협력해 지역 현안을 해결하고 지역발전을 이룬 것은 소중한 경험"이라며 "지역언론의 순기능은 지역 시민사회와 결합될 때 가능하다"고 강조했다.
박해전 사람일보 회장은 "한국언론이 통일에 대한 보도와 의제 기능을 제대로 하지 않는 등 반통일적인 행태를 보이고 있다"며 전면적인 언론개혁을 촉구했다.
오홍석 한국은퇴연구소 이사장은 "지역 언론들이 토호와 결탁해 이익추구에 몰두하는 것은 지역사회 발전에 저해요인이 되고 있다"고 말했다.
주제발표 후 참석자들은 언론 개혁 방안에 대해 토론을 벌였다.
