브레이크뉴스 정명훈 기자= 국민의힘 선대위가 원팀으로 구성되기까진 아직 갈 길이 멀어 보인다.
홍준표 국민의힘 의원이 지난 19일 윤석열 대선후보와의 만찬 회동에서 선대위 합류 조건으로 오는 3·9 국회의원 재보궐 선거 관련 종로와 대구 지역에 대한 전략공천을 요구한 사실이 언론을 통해 공개됐다.
홍준표 의원은 서울 종로에는 최재형 전 감사원장을, 대구 중남구 지역구에는 자신과 가까운 인사를 추천한 것으로 전해졌다.
하지만 윤석열 후보는 이 요청을 에둘러 거절했다. 윤 후보는 20일 오전 여의도 중앙당사에서 기자들과 만난 자리에서 "당 공천관리위원회가 정한 기준과 방식에 따라서 하는 것을 원칙으로 세워놨다"면서 "서로가 미는 사람이나 후보 입장에서는 다 본인이 하려고 하기 때문에 공정한 위원회를 구성해서 위원회에 좀 맡기고 저는 공천 문제에는 직접 관여할 생각이 없다"고 잘라 말했다.
이준석 대표도 홍 의원의 내건 조건부 합류 조건에 대해 "여론조사 공천을 우선시하는 방향으로 방침을 정했다"면서 "그 기조에 변화가 있으면 관계있는 분들의 타협이 있어야 하는데, 그 과정이 쉽지 않을 것"이라고 일축했다.
권영세 선대본부장은 쓴소리도 마다하지 않았다. 권 본부장은 이날 선대본부·원내지도부 연석회의에서 "당의 지도자급 인사라면 대선 국면이라는 이 절체절명의 시기에 마땅히 지도자로서 걸맞는 행동을 해야 한다"며 "만일 그렇지 못한 채 후퇴를 보인다면 지도자로서의 자격은 커녕 우리 당원으로서의 자격도 인정받지 못할 것임을 명심해야 한다"고 경고했다.
홍준표 의원은 자신의 공천 요구 사실이 알려지며 뭇매를 맞자, 즉각 불쾌감을 드러냈다. 홍 의원은 이날 국회 의원회관 사무실 앞에서 기자들과 만나 "어떻게 후보하고 한 이야기를 가지고 나를 비난하느냐"면서 "만약 이견이 있다면 내부적으로 의논을 해서 정리를 했어야 한다"고 주장했다.
홍 의원은 "국민들이 (국정운영을) 불안해하니 종로에 최재형 같이 깨끗하고 행정능력이 뛰어난 사람을 공천하게 되면 국정 능력을 보완할 수 있어 요청한 것"이라며 "그걸 두고 제가 잿밥에만 관심이 있는 것 처럼 공개적으로 그런 식으로 (발표)한다. 방자하다, 방자하기 이를 데 없다"라고 목소리를 높였다.
그러면서 "갈등을 수습하기는 커녕 이런 식으로 갈등을 증폭시키는 그런 사람들이 대선을 이끌어서 되겠느냐"고 지적했다.

At a dinner meeting with presidential candidate Yoon Seok-yeol on the 19th, it was revealed through the media that Rep. Hong Joon Pyo demanded strategic nomination rights from Jongno and Daegu related to the March 9 by-election on condition of joining the senior committee.
Rep. Hong Joon Pyo reportedly recommended Choi Jae-hyung, former head of the Board of Audit and Inspection, to Jongno, Seoul, and Choi Jae-hyung, who is close to him, to the Jungnam-gu district of Daegu.
However, candidate Yoon Seok-yeol indirectly rejected the condition. Candidate Yoon said in a meeting with reporters at Yeouido's central office on the morning of the 20th, "In principle, we set up a principle to follow the standards and methods set by the party nomination management committee," adding, "From the standpoint of each other, we're going to form a fair committee and I'm not directly involved in the nomination."
Regarding Rep. Hong's conditional joining conditions, CEO Lee Joon-seok also dismissed Hong's condition, saying, "If there is a change in the stance, there should be a compromise between those involved, but the process will not be easy."
Kwon Young-se, head of the previous headquarters, did not hesitate to say bitter things. At a joint meeting of the previous headquarters and the leadership of the House of Representatives, Kwon warned, "If you retreat without doing so, you should act appropriately as a leader," adding, "You should keep in mind that you will not be recognized as a leader."
Rep. Hong Joon Pyo immediately expressed displeasure when he was criticized after his request for nomination was revealed. Rep. Hong met with reporters in front of the office of the National Assembly building and criticized, "How do you criticize me with a story about the candidate?" and "If there is any disagreement, we should have discussed it internally and sorted it out."
Rep. Hong then said, "Since the people are anxious about (state administration), I asked Jongno to nominate a clean and excellent administrative person like Choi Jae-hyung because I can supplement the state's ability." He raised his voice, saying, "To be complacent, to be complacent." He pointed out, "Rather than resolving the conflict, can such people who amplify the conflict in this way lead the presidential election?"
