브레이크뉴스 정명훈 기자= 조원진 우리공화당 대통령 후보는 21일 중앙선거관리위원회 주재로 열리는 비초청대상 후보자 TV토론회 참석을 거부했다.
조 후보는 이날 보도자료를 통해 "초청 대상 후보자인 이재명, 윤석열, 안철수, 심상정 후보에게는 국민이 가장 많이 보는 저녁 8시에 무려 3번씩이나 분야를 나눠서 토론회를 하고, 비초청대상 후보자에게는 국민이 주무시는 밤 11시에 그것도 딱 한번 토론회를 하는 것은 그야말로 비정상이고 불공정하다"면서 "차별없는 공정한 선거야말로 대한민국 정치를 발전시킨다는 생각에 숙고에 숙고를 거쳐 토론회 참석을 거부하기로 했다"고 밝혔다.
조 후보는 "대통령 선거 기탁금이 똑같이 3억원이고, 선거공보, 선거벽보, 선거현수막 수량도 똑같은 이유는 어느 후보에게 특혜를 주지 않고 공정하게 국민에게 알리라는 뜻인데, 왜 유독 선관위 주최 TV토론회는 이렇게 불공정하고 불합리하게 차별을 하는가"라며 "대선에 등록한 후보가 많고 초청과 비초청이 구분이 된다고 하면, 초청후보자끼리 3번, 비초청후보자끼리 3번을 같은 시간대에 하는 것이 바람직하다"고 말했다.
이어 그는 "최근 베이징 올림픽에서 도 넘는 편파 판정과 오심으로 올림픽 정신이 사라졌고 전세계인의 공분을 샀는데, 대통령선거에서 초청후보자와 비초청후보자의 토론을 차별하는 것은 한마디로 비초청 후보자는 경기에 나갈 때 망가진 스케이트를 신고 출전하라는 것"이라며 "민주주의의 근간이라고 할 수 있는 선거가 불공정하고 불합리하게 후보자를 차별하고 국민의 알권리마저 빼앗는 것은 결코 있어서는 안된다. 지금의 중앙선관위는 마치 베이징 올림픽에서 차별과 편파판정을 일삼았던 잘못된 심판자에 불과하다"고 비판했다.
한편 조원진 후보는 지난 20일 중앙선관위가 4인 후보에게만 특혜를 주고 있다며 서울남부지방법원에 대선 TV토론 방송금지 가처분신청서를 제출하기도 했다.
