브레이크뉴스 정명훈 기자= 김종인 전 국민의힘 총괄선대위원장은 24일 안철수 국민의당 후보가 야권단일화 결렬 선언을 한 데 대해 "안 후보의 성명을 유심히 쳐다보고 행간을 읽어봤는데, 단일화는 이미 끝난 상태로 본다. 더 이상 이뤄지기 어렵다고 생각한다"고 밝혔다.
김종인 전 위원장은 이날 CBS라디오 '김현정의 뉴스쇼'에 출연해 "윤석열 국민의힘 후보는 안 후보 제안을 받지 않고 이대로 가도 (당선) 된다는 확신이 있어서 받지 않았을 것"이라며 이같이 말했다.
이어 그는 "단일화 의지가 있었다면 안 후보가 제안한 여론조사 방식 단일화를 받았어야 했다. 본인(윤석열 후보)이 여론조사도 굉장히 앞서는데 뭐가 두려워 못 받았느냐. 그걸 받았어야 했다"라며 "본인이 자신 있으니까 단일화를 받지 않았나라고 생각한다"라고 설명했다.
그는 추후 단일화 가능성에 대해서도 "안 후보의 이야기는 시간적으로 단일화를 할 방법이 없다고 하는거 아니냐"며 "불가능할거라고 본다. (후보간) 담판으로도 단일화가 불가능한다고 본다"고 부정적으로 내다봤다.
김 전 위원장은 특히 야권 단일화 결렬에서 오는 리스크에 대해 우려했다. 그는 과거 2002년 대선 시절을 언급하며 "그때도 한나라당 후보가 거의 될거라고 생각했다. 그런데 결론적으로 노무현 후보에게 패하지 않았나. 선거 판세를 보는 사람이 냉정하게 읽어야 하는데 자기 의지로 판단하는 착오를 저지를 수 있다"고 말했다.
이재명 더불어민주당 후보와의 선거 판세는 남은 2주 내 결정날 것이라고도 했다. 현재 다수의 여론조사에서 이재명 후보와 윤석열 후보는 초접전 양상을 보이고 있다.
김 전 위원장은 "현재 (1위가) 보이지 않고 박빙이라 나머지 2주간 민심의 향배가 어떻게 돌아가느냐가 결정적 요인이 될 것"이라며 "특히 코로나 상황이 투표에 굉장한 영향을 미칠 것이다. 코로나가 심화되면 일반 국민 성향이 안전추구로 갈 수 있다. 그럴때 투표성향이 어떻게 나타나는지에 대해 생각할 필요가 있고, 소위 말하는 외적 요인인 우크라이나 사태도 상당수 영향을 미칠 수 있다"고 분석했다.
