충남도가 염해 등 재해 예방을 위한 ‘방조제 개보수 사업’ 신규 지구로 도내 7개 방조제가 선정, 국비 185억 원을 포함한 206억 원을 확보했다고 27일 밝혔다.
방조제는 조석과 파랑, 해수 침투 등으로부터 간척지를 보호하기 위해 해안에 쌓은 둑이다.
그러나 노후 방조제에는 바닷물이 들어와 영농기 담수호 물을 농업용수로 활용하기 어려운 상황이 지속적으로 발생해왔다.
이에 따라 도는 지난해부터 방조제 개보수 신규 지구 목록에 도내 방조제를 올리기 위해 안전진단 결과 자료 등을 활용, 농림축산식품부에 사업 필요성을 지속적으로 건의해왔다.
신규 선정 지구는 서산 해바라기와 당진 대호2 등 국가관리 방조제 2개와 태안 갓배, 개풍 등 지방관리 방조제 5개이며, 수혜 면적은 총 8690.3㏊로 연간 약 4만 5000톤의 쌀을 생산할 수 있는 면적이다.
이들 방조제는 올해 세부설계와 시행계획 승인을 완료하고, 내년 착공해 2025년 준공할 계획이다.
투입 사업비는 국가관리 방조제 163억 6200만 원, 지방관리 방조제 41억 9500만 원이다.
