세종시가 한국영상대 원룸가 일원에 ‘범죄예방 도시환경디자인’ 사업을 추진한다고 4일 밝혔다.
‘범죄예방 도시환경디자인’ 사업은 범죄를 사전에 차단하거나 감소시킬 뿐만 아니라 이용자의 범죄 불안감을 감소시키기 위한 환경개선사업이다.
앞서 시는 지난 2월 수립한 범죄예방 도시환경디자인 기본계획과 안전도시위원회, 경찰 및 지구대의 의견을 반영해 환경개선이 필요한 지역 5곳을 선정했다.
이 중 한국영상대 일원 원룸가를 개선이 시급한 곳으로 판단해 우선사업대상지로 선정했다.
우선사업지로 선정된 한국영상대는 정비되지 않은 도로변 수목, 좁은 폭의 도로, 경사로 등으로 차폐공간이 많아 보행안전이 취약한 것으로 파악됐다.
또, 도심과 동 떨어져 있어 경찰 출동시 시간이 소요되고 골목길 내 가로등, 폐쇄회로텔레비전(CCTV), 비상벨 설치 또한 미비한 것으로 확인됐다.
이에 따라 시는 총 예산 2억 원을 투입해 ▲안심벨설치 ▲산책로 주변 차폐, 식재 등에 따른 은닉장소 제거 ▲야간조명 강화 ▲CCTV 안내판 시인성 강조 등 조치를 취할 예정이다.
특히 설계 단계부터 공사까지 지역 주민, 대학교 관계자, 대학생, 전문가, 관계 기관 등의 의견을 수렴해 사업의 완성도를 높이고 범죄발생 우려를 사전에 제거할 예정이다.
한윤식 경관디자인과장은 “범죄예방 도시환경디자인 기본계획에 따라 관내 범죄예방 환경디자인사업이 필요한 지역에 대해 연차별 사업을 추진할 계획”이라며 “주민들이 체감할 수 있는 안전하고 쾌적한 생활 환경을 조성해 나가겠다”라고 말했다.
