[브레이크듀스=이성용기자] 경남도경찰청은 11일 제20대 대통령선거와 관련해 선거사범 총 51건, 55명을 단속했다고 밝혔다.
선거일인 지난 9일까지 단속한 선거사범 51건 중 42건(42명)은 수사를 종결하였고 나머지 9건(13명)에 대해서는 현재 수사 중이다.
유형별로는 벽보?현수막 훼손 37건, 허위사실공표 8건(8명), 유세방해 등 선거폭력 2건(2명), 기타 4건(8명) 순이다.
경남도경찰청은 제20대 대통령선거와 제8회 지방선거에 대비해 ‘선거사범 수사전담반’ 264명을 편성하고 지난 8일부터 오는 6월 10일까지 154일간 도경찰청을 포함 도내 24개 경찰관서에 ‘선거사범 수사상황실’을 24시간 운영, 대응 체제를 구축했고, 신고단계부터 지역 선거관리위원회와 유기적인 공조를 통해 공정하고 중립적 자세로 선거사범 수사에 임하고 있다.
경찰관계자는 선거사건 공소시효가 6개월로 단기인 점을 감안해, 법 절차에 따라 신속하고 엄정하게 수사하여 깨끗하고 공정한 선거 문화가 정착될 수 있도록 최선을 다할 것이라고 말했다.
