이재관 전 대전시 행정부시장이 22일 더불어민주당 천안시장 예비후보로 등록을 마치고 본격적인 선거운동에 돌입했다.
후보 등록 후 이재관 후보는 중부권 메가시티 전략과 신행정수도 연계 동남부 경제권 거점전략을 중심으로 하는 주도적이고 능동적인 100만 대도시 천안 발전전략에 대한 구체적인 분야별 정책과 공약을 발표를 지속적으로 이어갈 예정이다
앞서 이재관 예비후보는 당내경선과 관련해 “지난 대선의 아쉬움을 극복하고 더불어민주당의 지방선거 필승을 위해서는 이곳 천안시장선거에서부터 반드시 이겨야 한다.”며, 이를 위해서는 “박상돈 현시장과 인물경쟁력에서 시민 모두가 인정할만한 객관적 우위에 있고, 보다 폭 넓고 다양한 시민의 지지를 이끌어 낼 수 있는 자신이 더불어민주당의 최적의 선택이 될 수 있다.”라며 당원과 시민들에게 지지를 호소했다.
