고양시는 일산전통시장의 숙원사업인 ‘일산시장 아케이드 천막교체 설치사업’이 완료됐다고 30일 밝혔다.
시는 7억6천만원을 투입해 2,781㎡ 규모의 비가림 시설을 내구성이 우수하고 빛 투과율이 좋은 폴리카보네이트 재질로 교체했다.

직사광선을 차단하고 눈·비를 막는 아케이드 설치로 시장 상인과 전통시장을 찾는 주민들 모두 큰 호응을 보냈다.
또한 시는 일산전통시장이 ‘경기도형 혁신시장 육성사업’ 공모에 선정되어 총 사업비 5억 원을 확보했다는 소식도 전했다.
경기도형 혁신시장 육성사업은 지역문화를 활용한 특화요소 개발, 상인역량 강화 및 상인 간의 상생협력을 통해 차별화된 경쟁력을 갖춘 전통시장을 조성하기 위한 사업으로 올 해 12월까지 1년간 진행된다.
시는 6월에 완료될 예정인 일산시장 고객쉼터 조성사업을 연계해 혁신시장 육성사업의 시너지 효과를 극대화할 방침이다.
시 관계자는 "천막교체 준공과 경기도형 혁신시장 육성사업 공모 선정으로 일산전통시장의 경쟁력이 크게 강화될 것으로 기대한다"며 “코로나19로 침체된 지역 경제에 활기를 불어넣기 위해 전통시장을 많이 찾아주시길 바란다”고 전했다. 고양=박정호기자
