고양시 행신역에서 KTX 강릉선 열차가 출발한다.
이로써 행신역은 전국팔도 어디든 직접 향할 수 있는 역사가 되었다.
2017년 첫 운행을 시작한 강릉선은 그동안 다른 운행노선과 마찬가지로 운행을 마친 후 행신동에 위치한 수도권철도차량기지에 입고 및 정비 후 출발하면서도 행신역에서 출발하지 않고 서울역을 기점으로 운행했다.

따라서 강릉으로 향하는 고양지역주민들은 다른 노선과 다르게 서울역까지 나아가 환승해야 하는 불편함을 감수해야 했다.
고양시와 고양시민들은 이러한 불편함을 해결하기 위해 코레일에 강릉선 행신역 출발을 지속적으로 요구해왔다.

지난해 「KTX 행신역 발 강릉선 지정 범시민 서명운동」을 대대적으로 진행했고 지난 2월 이재준 고양시장과 한준호 국회의원이 나희승 코레일 사장에게 4만 8000여명의 서명부를 전달하는 등 각고의 노력을 기울였다.
이러한 노력 끝에 시는 행신역 출발을 최종 확정 지을 수 있었다.
3월 31일부터 매일 운행하는 강릉행 열차는 오전 7시 33분 행신역에서 출발하여 10시 1분 강릉역 도착, 오후 9시 28분 강릉역에서 출발하여 11시 49분 행신역에 도착한다.
