브레이크뉴스 정명훈 기자= 경기도지사 출마를 선언한 강용석 변호사의 국민의힘 복당 신청이 7일 불허됐다.
이준석 대표는 이날 국회 본청에서 열린 최고위원회의 직후 기자들과 만나 "강용석 변호사의 복당 사안에 대해 최고위원들의 의사를 묻기 위해 투표를 진행했고, 최종 입당 승인안이 거부됐다"고 밝혔다.
이 대표는 "사무처에서 실무자들이 다수인 의견만 보고하라고 했다"며 "수치는 공개하지 않았다"고 말했다.
그는 복당 불허 이유를 묻는 기자의 질문에 "이 사안에 대해 이미 최고위원들께서 각자 생각을 갖고 계실 것이라 생각해서 저희가 일부러 토론도 하지 않았다"고 했다.
한편 국민의힘 서울시당 당원자격심사위원회는 지난 5일 강 변호사의 복당을 승인했다.
강용석 변호사는 지난 2010년 18대 의원 때 '여성 아나운서는 성공하기 위해선 다 줄 생각을 해야 한다'는 발언을 해 당시 한나라당에서 제명 처분된 바 있다. 이후 '가로세로연구소' 활동을 하는 동안 가짜뉴스, 막말 등 여러 논란으로 경찰수사를 수차례 받은 바 있다.
하태경 의원도 이날 CBS라디오 '김현정의 뉴스쇼'에서 "(복당을 허가한) 서울시당이 제정신이 아니라고 본다"며 "장관에 대해서도 윤리 자격이 더 높아져야 한다는 게 국민적 바람인데, 입당 자격도 자격 심사도 더 강화해야 한다. 그런데 서울시당이 그런 판단을 했다는 게 솔직히 믿어지지 않는다"고 비판했다.
