고양시가 지난 18일 향동고등학교 도서관을 시민과 공유하는 ‘2022년 고양형 학교시설 공유제’의 14번째 공유제 협약을 체결했다.
이로써 공공도서관이 없어 불편을 겪었던 향동지역 주민들이 향동고등학교 도서관을 이용할 수 있게 됐다.
이날 이재준 고양시장, 서동연 고양교육장, 최광보 향동고등학교장이 협약서에 서명했다.

협약기간은 2022년 4월 19일부터 2026년 12월 31일까지 5년간이다.
시는 올해부터 고양형 학교시설 공유제를 운영하고 있다.
고양형 학교시설 공유제는 관내 학교시설 중 체육관, 주차장, 도서관을 시민과 공유하는 제도다.
현재 백양초등학교를 포함한 관내 8개 학교가 체육관을 시민생활체육시설로 공유하고 있다.
8개 학교는 오는 5월부터 시민을 대상으로 생활체육지도사가 배드민턴.농구.배구 등의 강습을 진행할 예정이다.
또한, 단독주택 밀집지역의 주차난을 해소하기 위해 원당초등학교 등의 4개 학교의 주차장을 오후 6시부터 익일 오전8시까지 시민과 공유하는 사업도 진행되고 있다.
시 관계자는 “그동안 학교개방에 대한 시민 요구가 많았지만 학생안전과 관리인력 등의 문제로 추진이 어려웠다”며 “이에 시에서 관리인력을 파견함에 따라 학교 참여가 늘어났다. 앞으로 더 확대될 것으로 전망하고 있다”고 전했다. 고양=박정호 기자
