고양시는 지난 6일 대한불교 천태종 보월사에서 부처님 오신 날을 맞이해 관내 취약계층 및 소외된 이웃을 위해 자비의 쌀 1,000kg을 기부했다고 밝혔다.
전달식에는 대한불교 천태종 보월사 최용규 신도회장 및 관계자와 고양시사회복지협의회와 시 관계자가 함께 했다.
전달받은 쌀은 사회복지협의회를 통하여 관내 취약계층 및 복지사각지대에 놓인 이웃에게 전달될 예정이다.

최용규 신도회장은 “석가탄신일을 기념해 부처님의 가르침을 실천하고 어려운 이웃과 따뜻한 정을 나누고자 백미를 기부하게 됐다. 앞으로도 나눔 활동에 지속적으로 동참하여 부처님의 자비 나눔을 실천하겠다”고 말했다.
시 관계자는 “어려운 이웃에게 온정을 전하는 보월사 불자들의 정성스런 마음에 감사드리며, 크고 작은 기부와 선한 마음이 시민들에게 큰 위로와 힘이 될 것”이라고 전했다. 고양=박정호 기자
