성광진 후보 측이 신모, 문모 씨 등을 공직선거법 제110조 및 제250조에 의거해 고발했다고 밝혔다.
성 후보 측은 이들이 ‘진보 성광진이 교육감에 당선되면 미션스쿨에서 기독교 교육, 성경 교육을 할 수 없게 된다. 널리 10명 이상에게 전달해 달라’는 등의 내용을 불특정 다수가 볼 수 있는 밴드에 올리거나 지인에게 카톡으로 보냈으며 이는 허위의 사실을 불특정 다수 혹은 특정한 다수에게 배포함으로써 선거에 부당한 영향을 미치고 있다고 판단하여 이와 같은 사실관계를 엄중히 수사하여 처벌해달라는 내용으로 고발했다고 밝혔다.
성 후보 측은 5월 27일 사전투표가 시작되었으며, 특히나 본 선거가 약 일주일가량도 남지 않은 현재, 불특정 혹은 특정된 다수에게 배포되고 있는 위와 같은 허위의 사실은 선거에 부당한 영향을 미칠 수 있음이 명백하고, 그 사안이 매우 중대하고 시급하다면서 대전선거관리위원회에 고발장을 제출함으로써 조속한 대응을 통해 위와 같은 허위의 흑백선전이 반복되거나 유지되지 않도록 조치를 취하여 달라고 요청했다고 말했다.
이에 대해 성광진 후보는 “2018년에도 이 정도 페이스북 글은 참 많았었는데 고발은 하지 않았다. 내용 대부분은 명백한 허위사실이었고 명예훼손까지도 될 수 있는 내용이었지만 고발까지 하는 것은 교육감 후보이자 교육자로서 지녀야 할 자질이 아니라고 생각했다. 하지만 결국 선거에서 낙선했고 흑색 비방을 한 자들은 이후 4년간 또다시 교육을 망치려고 하고 있다. 이젠 이번 선거의 당락을 떠나 더는 이런 말도 안 되는 비방에 대해서는 참지 않겠다. 그것이 참교육자의 자세이며 그동안 불의와 싸워온 나의 소신과도 부합되는 일이다”라고 강력대응을 예고했다.
