브레이크뉴스 정명훈 기자= 권성동 국민의힘 원내대표는 7일 이준석 대표의 혁신위원회 추진과 우크라이나 방문 등을 둘러싸고 친윤(친윤석열)계와 갈등 양상 보도가 나온데 대해 "권력다툼이라고 보는 것은 억측"이라고 선을 그었다.
권성동 원내대표는 이날 국회에서 원내대책회의를 마친 후 기자들과 만나 "언론은 항상 무슨 정책 관련 보도보다 당내 내분이나 싸움에 좀 더 관심을 많이 갖고 있다"며 이같이 밝혔다.
그는 "당 대표나 원내대표는 항상 구성원에게 비판받는 자리"라며 "잘하면 잘한대로 칭찬받고, 본인의 생각과 다르면 비판하기에 비판 자체를 권력다툼이라고 비화하는 것은 지나친 억측"이라고 지적했다.
이같은 발언은 당 주도권을 놓고 친윤계와 이준석 대표간 대립구도가 형성됐다는 언론 보도를 모두 부인한 것이다.
권성동 원내대표는 또한 '당대표 조기 퇴진론'이 나온 것과 관련해선 "전당대회를 통해 선출된 당 대표인데, 임기에 대해 왈가왈부하는 것 자체가 적절치 못하고 본다"고 일축했다.
아울러 '이 대표 측근 인사가 당협위원장에 내정된 데 대한 비판 여론도 있다'는 기자의 질문에도 "당 조강특위에서 공모해서 선정한 다음에 최고위에 올라오니까, 최고위에서 만약 부당한 선정이 있다 그러면 그 부분은 지적을 하도록 하겠다"고 했다.

한편 친윤계 좌장격인 정진석 의원은 전날 페이스북을 통해 "보름 전 쯤 이 대표가 우크라이나행을 고집해서 하는 수없이 외교부가 우크라이나 여당 대표의 초청장을 받아준 모양이다. 정부가 탐탁지 않아하면 적어도 여당 정치인은 그 결정에 신중해야 한다"면서 "이준석 대표의 우크라이나 방문이 자기 정치 그 이상도 이하도 아니라면 보통 문제가 아니다"라고 공개 비판했다.
