평화를 위한 백만인 얼굴 그리기 프로젝트를 추진하게 되면서부터 시온칸이라는 예명을 쓰는 배희권 화가가 서울시 종로구 인사동 태화빌딩 지하에 있는 조형갤러리에서 얼굴이 아닌 또 다른 그림인 누드 드로잉 전시회를 6월 8일부터 13일까지 개최한다.
배희권 화가는 지금 까지 5만 여 명의 평화 얼굴을 그려오면서도 틈틈이 다양한 작업들을 해 왔다. 이번 전시회에서는 수 천점에 달하는 누드 드로잉 작업들 중의 일부와 최근 작품들을 선보였다. 평화를 화두로 작업하는 화가가 생뚱맞게 누드를 그린다는 편견을 가질 수 있으나 시온칸 배희권 화가 2008년에 '나는 아직도 오르가슴 중이다'라는 시화집을 발간할 정도로 나름 누드에 대한 미학 내지는 철학이 확고하게 잡힌 화가.

배희권 화가는 “'인간이 영원한 증식을 하기 위해서 필요한 장치가 성이다. 잉태를 하기위해서는 필수적으로 선행되어야 하는 것은 남녀가 교접이 되어야만 가능 한 것이다. 신은 인간에게 생명을 잉태하게 하기 위해서 '오늘밤 너는 거룩한 일을 할거야'라고 설교하지 않는다. 단지 욕망이라는 것을 부여해서 욕망이 그것을 가능케 한다. 이 성에 대한 욕망이 강하게 작용 해야지 만이 잉태와 출산의 수고와 고통을 감내할 수 있는 것이다. 누드는 욕망이 작동하게 하는 시각적, 감성적 아름다움을 갖추고 있어서 가능하다. 누드, 인간의 몸을 통해 창조와 사랑이란 가치를 구현케 하는 신의 뜻이 있다”라고 강조한다.
