평가는 시험운영기관에서 제공하는 시료를 배분받아 분석 후 검증기관에 결과 값을 제출하여 항목별 분석능력을 평가받는 방식으로 진행된다.
고양시 먹는 물 수질검사기관은 국제공인 숙련도시험 먹는 물 분야 총 17개 항목에 참가하여 전 항목 모두 최고등급인 만족(satisfactory)을 받아 검사기관으로서의 능력을 국제적으로 인정받았다.
