최민호 세종시장 당선인이 세종보는 홍수예방, 수질개선 등의 목적으로 진행된 4대강 사업과 달리 도심 내 친수공간 조성을 위해 4대강 사업 이전에 수립된 계획에 따라 설치된 것인만큼 존치가 필요하다는 입장을 전달했다.
