고양시가 지난 15일 고양생태교육센터에서 청년기후환경활동가 그린홉과정 수료식을 개최했다.
수료생은 온실가스 저감 컨설턴트로 활동할 예정이며 고양시 환경사업 전반에 협력할 계획이다.
시는 탄소중립 선도 도시로서 기후위기 상황을 알리고 기후위기에 대응하기 위해 지난 3월부터 청년 기후환경활동가 양성과정 ‘그린홉’을 운영했다.

그린홉(Green Hope)은 ‘미래 환경의 주역이자 희망이다’라는 의미를 담고 있다.
그린홉 참여 청년은 지난 6월 11일에 개최된 환경의 날 기념 행사에서 시민에게 편리한 삶을 벗어나 사람과 자연이 공존하기 위한 친환경 삶을 선택해 달라는 호소문을 낭독하기도 했다.
이날 수료식에는 청년 14명에게 수료증을 전달하고 3개월 과정의 경험과 성과를 나누고 제로웨이스트를 실천하는 업사이클링 사업을 제안하는 시간을 가졌다.
시 관계자는 “기후환경문제는 전세계가 관심을 가져야 하는 사안”이라며 “진실된 마음으로 위기 상황을 알리는 청년 기후환경활동가가 되어 주기 바란다”고 말했다.
