더불어민주당 신현영 대변인은 7월8일 “이준석 국민의힘 대표에 대한 국민의힘 윤리위의 징계결정은 사필귀정입니다” 제하의 서면 브리핑에서 “국민의힘 윤리위가 이준석 대표에 대해 당원권 정지 6개월의 징계를 결정했습니다.”고 전제하고 “집권여당 당대표라는 지위의 무거움이나 제기된 의혹의 죄질에 비추어 중징계는 당연합니다. 그러나 이준석 대표의 성상납 의혹은 여전히 의혹이라는 꼬리표를 떼지 못했습니다. 국민의힘은 당 대표에게 제기된 충격적인 의혹에 대해서는 판단하지 않았습니다”고 강조했다.
이어 “중징계를 받은 이준석 국민의힘 대표는 물론이고 핵심적 판단을 회피한 국민의힘 또한 국민께 석고대죄 해야 합니다. 국민의힘은 대선과 지방선거 과정에서 이 사안을 회피하기에 급급하며 국민의 눈을 가렸습니다. 또한 이준석 대표에 대한 윤리위 징계 문제를 두고 당권싸움에 이용하는 추태를 연출했습니다”고 지적했다.
또한 “오늘의 중징계까지 지난 모든 과정에서 공당으로서의 책임성과 국민에 대한 도리는 철저히 외면되었습니다. 이준석 대표에 대한 징계와는 별개로 국민의힘 또한 이 사건에 공범이라는 점을 분명히 하며, 국민의힘의 책임 있는 사과와 반성을 요구합니다”고 밝혔다.

In a written briefing under the heading “The People’s Power Ethics Committee’s decision on disciplinary action against Representative Lee Jun-seok, the People’s Power Ethics Committee,” on July 8, spokesperson Shin Hyun-young of the Democratic Party of Korea said, “The People’s Power Ethics Committee suspends party membership for Lee Jun-seok for 6 months. has been decided.” and “In light of the heaviness of the position as the leader of the ruling party and the nature of the suspicions raised, severe punishment is natural. However, the allegation of sexual harassment by CEO Jun-seok Lee was still not removed from the label of suspicion. The People's Power did not judge the shocking allegations raised by the party leader," he said.
He continued, “Lee Jun-seok, the representative of the People’s Power, who was severely punished, and also the People’s Power, who evaded a key judgment, should be blamed against the people. The people's power was desperate to avoid this issue during the presidential and local elections, and they blindfolded the people. He also pointed out, "I made a fuss about the issue of disciplinary action by the Ethics Committee against CEO Lee Jun-seok."
He also said, “In all the processes leading up to today’s severe disciplinary action, responsibility as a publicist and morality to the people have been thoroughly neglected. Apart from the disciplinary action against CEO Lee Jun-seok, we make it clear that the people's power is also an accomplice in this case, and we demand a responsible apology and reflection from the people's power."
