[브레이크뉴스=이성용 기자] 김해시는 경상남도가 지원하고 경남문화예술진흥원이 주관하는 ‘2022 지역특화형 메타버스 플랫폼 구축지원’ 공모사업에 선정됐다고 18일 밝혔다.
4차 산업의 핵심 키워드로 떠오르고 있는 ‘메타버스’를 활용해 산업·문화·역사 등 지역의 특화자원에 기반한 메타버스 생태계를 조성하는 사업으로 전체 공모사업비 2억 9000만원 중 1억 9000만원을 김해시가 가져오게 됐다.
김해시는 웹툰과 율하 카페거리를 접목한 메타버스 플랫폼 구축을 주제로 응모했으며 관동동 소재 경남콘텐츠기업지원센터 입주기업이자 경남 유일 웹툰 제작사인 ㈜피플앤스토리가 추진기업으로 참여해 지방자치단체 최초로 웹툰과 지역이 결합한 ‘율하 툰빌’ 메타버스를 구축하게 된다.
다양한 메타버스 콘텐츠를 오프라인과 효과적으로 연계·활용하기 위해 카페, 식당, 공연장 등 다양한 상권이 집결해있고 김해 내에서도 특히 젊은 지역인 율하 카페거리를 배경으로 선정했다.

홍태용 김해시장은 “양질의 웹툰 저작물을 다량 보유한 지역 콘텐츠 업체가 이번 사업을 맡게 된 만큼 지역과 상생할 수 있는 메타버스 플랫폼을 만들어 주기를 바란다”며 “메타버스 플랫폼이 웹툰 페스티벌 등 지역 축제로도 연결되고 율하 카페거리뿐만 아니라 지역 전체로 콘텐츠를 확산해 나가길 기대한다”고 밝혔다.
