250여 시민단체로 구성된 범시민사회단체연합(이하 범사련, 상임공동대표 태범석)측은 25일 발표한 보도자료에서 “7월 26일 오전 10시 30분, 수원지방법원 정문에서 ‘김태우 서울강서구청장의 공익제보에 대한 무혐의판결을 요청하는 탄원’ 기자회견을 가진 뒤 수원지방법원 항소1-3부 재판부에 탄원서를 제출한다”고 전하고 “범사련은 지난 6월 15일 성명서를 통해 ‘공익제보자인 김태우 강서구청장에 대한 항소심 재판부가 무혐의로 사건을 종결할 것’을 촉구했었다”고 밝혔다.
