[브레이크뉴스=이성용 기자] 영남권 습지보전교육과 체험거점이 될 김해시 화포천습지보전관리센터 건립이 본격화된다.
김해시는 8월 중 화포천습지보전관리센터 건립공사에 들어간다고 26일 밝혔다.
화포천습지보전관리센터는 진영읍 본산리 7-12번지 일원 1만6,690㎡ 부지에 총사업비 311억원을 투입해 지상 3층, 연면적 5,334㎡ 규모로 2024년 6월 준공 예정이다.
2018년 12월 타당성조사 용역을 완료하고 2020년 9월 설계에 착수했으며 그동안 사업부지 매수와 각종 행정절차를 완료했다.
건축물 1층은 수장고(215㎡), 연구동(296㎡), 대회의실(373㎡), 기획전시실(232㎡), 2층은 사무실(215㎡), 회의실(91㎡), 전시교육공간(3개소 811㎡), 3층은 전기·발전기실(318㎡), 휴게실(64㎡), 홀·유아실내놀이터(128㎡)로 계획되어 있다.
건물과 연결된 전망대(높이 30m)에서 사업부지 맞은 편 화포천습지를 조망하기 편리하게 되어 있으며 봉하마을 등 주변 관광지와 관광벨트를 형성할 전망이다.
또 친환경적인 설계로 신재생에너지, 제로에너지, 녹색건축 등과 더불어 공공건축물로는 드물게 패시브 건축을 반영해 건물 안의 열이 밖으로 빠져나가는 것을 최대한 차단해 정부의 탄소중립 정책에도 기여할 것으로 기대된다.
이용규 수질환경과장은 “화포천습지보전관리센터 조성사업이 2024년에 완료되면 화포천습지의 체계적인 보전에 기여하고 화포천습지와 연계된 새로운 체험공간과 볼거리를 제공하게 될 것”이라며 “차질 없는 건립에 최선을 다 하겠다”고 밝혔다.
화포천은 멸종위기종 13종을 포함해 총 812종의 생물이 서식하는 등 생물다양성이 풍부해 정부로부터 습지 생태계의 우수성을 인정받아 2017년 11월 23일 습지보호지역으로 지정됐다.
