[브레이크뉴스=이성용 기자] 홍태용 김해시장이 26일 시청 프레스센터에서 생활쓰레기의 안정적인 처리를 위해 자원순환시설을 신설, 대보수하는 현대화사업을 계획대로 추진한다고 발표했다.
이 추진은 민선 8기 홍태용 시장 당선 이후 약 2달간 자원순환시설 현대화사업과 관련해 인수위원회 검토 내용, 주민간담회 찬반의견, 실무부서의 각종 보고자료들을 면밀히 검토한 결과라고 설명했다.
시는 앞으로 증설을 정상 추진하되 영향권 주민지원을 확대하고 환경기초시설 집적화는 장기계획으로 추진한다는 계획이다.
김해시의 정상 추진 판단 근거는 김해시 생활쓰레기는 1일 평균 200t이 발생해 이 중 140t이 소각처리되고 나머지 약 60t은 진영매립장에 야적되고 있는 상황으로 현재 매립장 적치량(3만7천t)이 전체 적치용량 5만3천t의 70% 정도로 포화상태를 고려하지 않을 수 없다는 판단이다.
또한, 현대화사업은 정부 정책방향에 따라 추진되는 광역화사업으로 국·도비 278억원과 창원시비 50억원이 추가 지원되며 현재까지 국·도비 131억원과 창원시 부담금 9억원을 확보해 집행했고 한국환경공단이 사업시행자를 선정해 추진 중에 있어 사업을 중단할 경우 막대한 손해배상책임이 따를 것으로 예상된다.
