브레이크뉴스 정명훈 기자= 권성동 국민의힘 대표 겸 원내대표는 28일 이재명 더불어민주당 의원의 부인 김혜경씨의 '법인카드 유용 의혹'과 관련해 참고인 조사를 받던 40대 남성이 숨진데 대해 "의혹마다 의문의 죽음이 이어지고 있다"며 이 의원이 직접 해명해야 한다고 밝혔다.
권성동 직무대행은 이날 자신의 페이스북을 통해 "대장동 게이트, 변호사비 대납, 법인카드 유용 등 하나같이 파렴치한 범죄적 의혹이다. 이재명 의원이 떳떳하다면, 왜 극단적 선택이 끊이지 않는 것인가"이라며 이같이 말했다.
그는 "이재명 의원이 정치를 계속하고 싶다면 이런 의혹부터 해명해야 하는데 대선 패배 두 달 만에 복귀해서 국회의원 보궐선거에 출마했고, 이번에는 당 대표 자리를 노리고 있다"면서 "자신을 향한 온갖 의혹을 덮기 위해, 더 큰 권력이 필요하기 때문이다. 이 의원이 정치를 하는 목적은 법으로부터의 도피인가"라고 비판했다.
이어 그는 "민주당은 이런 이재명 의원을 조직적으로 옹호하는 것도 모자라 당 대표로 만들 분위기"라며 "도대체 민주당은 죽음에 대한 문제 의식도 없는 것이냐"라고 꼬집었다.
그러면서 "지금 국민이 이 의원에게 바라는 것은 기본소득, 기본주택 같은 것이 아니라 기본의혹에 대한 사과와 책임"이라고 덧붙였다.
한편 이날 경기남부경찰청 반부패수사대에 따르면 김혜경씨의 법인카드 유용 의혹과 관련해 참고인 조사를 받은 40대 남성 A씨가 수원시 영통구 자택에서 숨진 채 발견됐다. 경찰은 외부 침입 흔적이 없는 점 등을 고려해 극단적 선택을 한 것으로 보고 있으며 현장에서 유서는 발견되지 않았다.
김혜경씨 최측근의 지인으로 알려져 있는 A씨는 중소기업을 운영하고 있으며 최근 경찰에 출석해 김씨의 법인카드 유용 의혹 관련 참고인 조사를 받았다. 경찰은 A씨에 대해 "최근 참고인 신분으로 딱 한번 조사를 받았고, 피의자로 전환될 가능성도 없었다"고 전했다.
경찰은 국립과학수사연구원에 부검을 의뢰해 정확한 사인을 밝히는 한편 계속 수사를 진행할 예정이다.
