[브레이크뉴스= 기자] 2022 창원장애인사격월드컵대회가 오는 15일부터 11일간 창원국제사격장에서 열린다.
세계장애인사격연맹이 주최하고 대한장애인사격연맹이 주관하는 이번 대회는 전세계 19개국 236명의 선수단이 참가하며, 개인전 및 단체전 총 20개 종목에서 120개의 금·은·동 메달 주인공이 가려진다.
12일 각 국 선수단 입국을 시작으로 16일에는 장비검사와 공식훈련이 이어진다. 경기 시작은 18일부터이며, 10M, 25M, 50M에서 공기소총, 공기권총, 화약소총, 화약권총 및 산탄총 등의 경기가 24일까지 진행된다. 이어서 25일 각국 선수단 출국으로 총 11일간의 대회가 막을 내린다.
이번 창원장애인사격월드컵대회는 패럴림픽과 세계선수권대회에 이어 가장 큰 국제대회일 뿐만 아니라, 2024 파리 패럴림픽 출전이 가능한 MQS(국제기준점수)를 획득할 수 있는 중요한 대회이다.

해당 대회는 2019년 아랍에미리트, 크로아티아 및 작년 페루에서 열렸으며, 세계장애인사격연맹과의 적극적인 협의를 통해 창원특례시가 바톤을 이어받게 됐다.
홍남표 시장은 “전세계 장애인체육인들의 축제와도 같은 이번 대회를 우리 시에서 개최하게 되어 매우 자랑스럽게 생각한다”며 “창원특례시는 대한민국 사격의 대표 도시로서 장애인스포츠의 발전 및 국제적 입지 강화를 위하여 적극 지원하겠다”고 전했다.
한편 경기는 코로나19 재확산 추세를 감안해 선수단 입국 시 PCR 검사 시행 및 자가검진키트 배포, 경기장 상시 방역 및 출입자 발열 체크, 확진자 격리 조치 등 방역 대책에도 총력을 다할 방침이다.
