파주시는 지난 10일 문산행복센터 소공연장에서 청소년 평화통일 교육 포럼을 개최했다고 밝혔다.
시는 연초 민간공모를 통해 선정된 통일 교육 연구단체인 세계시민·평화교육연구소(대표:권혁정)에서 청소년 평화통일교육을 실천하는 동아리 지원 사업을 추진했으며, 이번 포럼은 이러한 ‘청소년 평화·통일 교육’ 사업의 일환으로 추진됐다.

이번 포럼은 관내 학교 학생으로 이뤄진 평화통일 동아리 회원 및 교사 60여 명이 참석한 가운데, 동아리별 활동 사례 발표회, 탈북민 강사의 북한 이야기 강연, 동아리 학생들이 직접 만든 평화통일 관련 작품 전시 등이 진행됐다.
서병권 평화협력과장은 “통일의 주역이 될 학생들이 평화통일 메시지가 있는 작품 만들기, 현장기행 등을 통해 평화의 소중함을 깨닫길 바란다”며, “앞으로도 청소년들의 눈높이에 맞는 보다 공감 가능한 평화통일 교육을 추진하겠다”고 말했다.
