[브레이크뉴스=양영석 기자] 소힘겨루기 대회 전설인 ‘갑두’와 지난 대회 우승 소 ‘강투’의 재격돌을 볼 수 있을까. 이번 추석 연휴에 의령 추석 민속 소힘겨루기대회가 개최된다.
의령군은 민속고유의 명절 추석을 맞이해 ‘제17회 추석맞이 민속 소힘겨루기대회’를 오는 9월 10일부터 11일까지 2일간 의령읍 무전리에 위치한 의령민속소싸움경기장에서 개최한다고 밝혔다.
이번대회에서는 전국대회 16강 이상의 입상 경력이 있는 소 80여두가 출전해 힘겨루기를 통해 최강의 승자를 가릴 예정이다.
경기방식은 백두·태백·한강 등 체급별 단판승 방식으로 진행될 계획이라고 전했다.
의령군민의 자랑인 의령 민속 소힘겨루기 대회는 100년의 오랜 역사와 전통을 이어오고 있다.
이번 추석맞이 소힘겨루기 대회를 관전하는 관람객들에게는 추첨을 통해 금송아지 1두, TV, 자전거, 의령 농·특산물 등의 다양한 경품을 지급한다.
10일 추석 당일에는 초등학생 어린이들을 대상으로 그림그리기 부대행사도 마련돼 있다.
한편 이번 대회에 앞서 6월 개최됐던 의령전국민속소싸움대회에서는 전국에서 186두가 출전해 그 중 백두급 최강자 챔피언 “갑두”와 신성인 “강투”가 결승에서 맞붙어 화제가 됐었다.
“강투”가 전국대회 38연승의 ‘갑두’를 꺾는 이변을 일으켜 많은 관중의 탄성을 불러일으켰다.
이번 의령 추석대회에서도 체중 1,000kg이 넘는 이 두 마리의 소가 재격돌할 수 있을지 벌써부터 관심이 집중되고 있다.
대한민속소힘겨루기협회 의령군지회 왕재구 회장은 “박진감 넘치는 의령 민속 소힘겨루기 대회를 관전하면서 우리 고유의 명절인 추석의 맛을 제대로 느끼시기를 바란다”고 말했다.
