브레이크뉴스 정명훈 기자= 더불어민주당은 5일 긴급 의원총회를 열고 검찰 출석을 통보받은 이재명 당 대표에게 불출석을 요청하기로 의견을 모았다.
박홍근 민주당 원내대변인은 이날 오후 의원총회 직후 기자들과 만나 "당 대표가 직접 출석해 (검찰) 소환에 응하는 것은 맞지 않고, 서면조사로 대체하는 게 바람직하다는 뜻을 이 대표에게 적극 권유하기로 의견을 모았다"고 전했다.
박홍근 원내대변인은 이재명 대표가 이날 4선 이상 중진 의원들과 오찬을 가진 점을 언급하며 "4선 이상 중진 의원들도 의원총회 의견과 일치했다"며 "최종 결정은 이재명 대표가 하겠지만 이런 당의 의견을 충분히 고려해서 수용하실 거라고 본다"고 했다.
이날 중진 의원들과의 오찬 자리에서도 이 대표가 직접 검찰에 출석할 필요가 없다는 의견이 주를 이룬 것으로 전해졌다.
오찬에 참석한 안호영 의원은 기자들에게 "터무니 없는 일로 꼬투리 잡아서 대선 기간 경쟁했던 상대 당 대선후보이자 현직 당 대표를 기소하겠다고 소환한 전례가 없었다는 등 격앙된 목소리가 많았다"며 "검찰이 정치적 의도를 갖고 소환한 것이기 때문에 이에 응할 필요가 없다는 취지의 말씀들이 많았다"고 분위기를 전했다.
한편 서울중앙지검 공공수사2부(부장검사 이상현)는 이재명 대표가 받고 있는 공직선거법 위반 혐의와 관련, 6일 소환 조사를 통보했다.
이재명 대표는 경기도 백현동 부지 용도변경 특혜 의혹 관련 국회에서 한 발언과 대장동 개발 특혜 관련 발언, 고(故) 김문기 전 성남도시개발공사 개발1처장을 '모른다'고 말한 내용 등과 관련해 허위사실 공표 혐의로 고발된 바 있다.
