파주시는 파주쌀 소비촉진을 통한 쌀 농가의 어려움 해결을 위해 지난 6일 파주시종교지도자협의회의와 업무협약을 체결했다.
협약을 통해 파주시는 한수위 파주쌀 생산·유통을 위한 농업인 육성 및 대중매체 홍보를 강화하고, 파주시종교지도자협의회는 한수위 파주쌀의 이용 및 홍보를 실시하는 등 상호 협력해 나가기로 했다.

시는 올해 파주쌀 소비촉진을 위해 경의중앙선, 버스, 택시 등 매체를 이용해 홍보 중이며 아파트, 임진각 관광지 등 직거래행사, 대형마트 특별할인 판매 등을 실시해 10kg쌀 12만3,682포를 판매했다.
또한 파주시와 파주시민회가 공동으로 출향민들에게 한수위 파주쌀 소비에 동참을 요청하는 서한문을 발송하기도 했다.

파주시 종교지도자협의회에서는 현재까지 약 10톤의 파주쌀을 구매했으며, 앞으로 50톤을 추가 구매해 어려움에 처한 농업인을 도울 계획이다.
김경일 파주시장은 “파주시종교지도자협의회에서 농업인들을 위해 쌀문제에 발벗고 나서주셔서 진심으로 감사드린다”며, “이번 협약을 통해 시민들께서 한수위 파주쌀을 더 많이 알고 구매할 수 있게 되기를 바란다”고 말했다.
