[브레이크뉴스=이성용 기자] 창원특례시는 13일 캐서린 레이퍼 주한 호주 대사를 영접하고 양국간 다양한 경제 및 산업 교류 방안에 대해 논의했다.
이어 호주대사는 창원대학교를 들러 대학생들에게 ‘국제관계내 한·호관계’에 대한 특강을 갖고, 창원 NC파크 마산구장을 방문해 시구를 진행하는 등 관내 여러 기관들을 둘러보는 시간을 가졌다.
시는 호주와 여러 방면으로 도시외교 네트워크를 구축하고 있으며, 앞으로 호주와의 경제, 산업뿐만 아니라 스포츠, 교육, 인적교류 등 모든 분야에서 적극 교류하려는 의지를 밝혔다.
특히, 창원과 호주간 미래지향적 방위산업 협력을 희망하며, 관내 방산기업의 호주 진출을 적극 지원할 예정이다고 전했다.
이에 캐서린 레이퍼 대사는 “호주와 한국의 포괄적 전략 동반자 관계는 양국 관계의 기반이며, 이를 토대로 더욱 굳건히 만들어 나가고자 한다”며 “창원특례시의 호주와의 국제교류 협력을 위해 적극 협조하겠다”고 화답했다.
