한국에서의 첫 번째 ‘포켓몬 GO 사파리존’이 고양시에서 열릴 예정이다.
고양시는 9월 23일부터 25일까지 ‘포켓몬 GO 사파리 존: 고양’이 3일간 일산 호수공원에서 개최된다고 밝혔다.

포켓몬 GO 사파리존 행사는 나이언틱 자사가 서비스하는 증강현실(AR)모바일 게임 ‘포켓몬 GO’를 기반으로 하는 오프라인 유저 행사로 국내에서는 최초로 개최된다.
앞서 2022년 5월 스페인 세비야에서 개최됐을 때 2만명의 관광객이 행사를 찾았다.
‘포켓몬 GO 사파리 존: 고양’에서는 고양특례시의 풍부한 꽃과 낭만의 역사를 테마로 한 포켓몬과 다양한 포켓몬을 만날 수 있다.
이외에도 호수공원을 둘러보면서 사진을 촬영하거나 기념품을 받을 수 있다.
고양시와 고양컨벤션뷰로는 관련 관계자와의 2020년부터 지속된 협의 끝에 지난 2월 행사 유치를 확정했다.
시 관계자는 “이번 행사가 고양시민 뿐 아니라 고양시에 방문한 모든 사람들에게 일산 호수공원의 아름다움을 알릴 수 있는 좋은 기회가 될 것”이라며 “행사 기간에는 주차공간이 혼잡할 것으로 예상되므로 대중교통 이용을 당부 드린다.”고 말했다. [고양=박정호기자]
