민생당은 9월26일자 보도자료를 통해 “이관승, 김정기 공동대표는 지난 금요일 9월 23일 오후 6시 30분 서울신라호텔 다이너스티홀에서 개최하는 제92회 사우디아라비아 왕국 건국일 기념 연회에 참석하여 축하를 전했다”고 밝혔다.
이관승 공동대표는 이 자리에서 “사우디아라비아는 우리나라의 건설근로자가 중동지역으로 진출해 해외건설 누적 수주 1위를 차지하고 있는 국가다. 대한민국의 근대화와 경제발전의 중요한 파트너이기도 하며, 양국은 올해로 수교 60주년이 되는 뜻 깊은 해이다.”라고 참석 소회를 밝혔다. 또 “이번 행사를 기점으로 대한민국이 새로운 중동의 붐을 주도하는 기회로 삼아야 한다.”라며 입장을 밝혔다.
김정기 공동대표는 “윤석열 정부는 국가 경제 활성화의 한 축으로 해외건설부흥을 지지하고 있고 특히 중동 건설시장을 정조준하고 있다. 사우디 정부는 100% 신재생에너지를 바탕으로 하는 도시 ‘더 라인’과 바다 위 첨단산업단지 ‘옥사곤’, 친환경 관광단지 ‘트로제나’등의 도시를 구성하고 있다.”라며 “민생당은 윤석열 정부가 신도시 네움시티 프로젝트 수주를 위해 적극적인 외교활동을 전개하고 도로, 물류, 항공을 포괄하는 미래모빌리티, AI, 친환경에너지 등 4차산업혁명을 위한 긴밀한 협력을 끌어내기를 희망한다”라고 당의 입장을 덧붙였다.
