[브레이크뉴스=정철규 기자] 진주시가 29일 시청 문화강좌실에서 형평운동 100주년 기념사업 준비를 위한 회의를 개최하고 내년 4월 형평운동 100주년 기념 축제 준비에 들어갔다.
형평운동 100주년 기념사업준비위원회는 지난 4월에 발족해 위원장인 신종우 부시장을 포함해 위원 44명으로 구성, 29일 회의를 통해 2023년 100주년에 추진될 사업을 최종 결정했다.
진주시는 오는 2023년 형평운동이 100년을 맞이하는 해로 형평운동이 시작된 도시로서 자긍심을 높이고 형평의 정신을 계승 발전시키기 위해 내년 4월 24일부터 30일까지를 형평주간으로 정했다.
시는 이 기간 기념식, 학술대회, 문화예술행사, 전시회 개최 등으로 축제를 벌일 계획이며, 다양한 주제로 형평운동을 알리고 역사적 사실을 현대적 감각으로 재해석할 예정이다.
