[브레이크뉴스=이성용 기자] 박완수 경상남도지사는 4일 강구영 한국항공우주산업(주) 신임 사장과 함께 항공우주산업의 발전방안을 논의하고, 협력해 나가기로 했다.
경남도는 우리나라 항공우주산업의 생산액 중 68%를 차지하고 있고, 우주항공청의 사천 설치와 우주산업 협력단지 조성 등 명실상부한 항공우주산업의 최대 집적지로 부상되고 있다.
특히 KAI는 우리나라 유일의 항공기 체계업체로서 군용기 개발.양산, 완제기 수출, 항공기 유지보수 운영(MRO)은 물론 차세대 중형위성, 국방위성 개발사업 등 미래 신사업에도 진출하고 있으며, 한국형 발사체 총조립까지 우주사업 영역을 확대해 나가고 있다.
강구영 신임 KAI 사장은 박 도지사에게 도심항공교통(UAM) 산업과 항공MRO 육성을 비롯해 항공기 수출에 따른 세일즈맨 역할 등 항공우주산업을 추진하는 데 경남도의 적극적인 협력을 요청했다.
박완수 도지사는 “경남도는 도심항공교통 시대가 도래할 것에 대비해 항공산업 분야를 뒷받침하는 정책을 펼쳐나가고, 우주항공청 사천 설치를 비롯해 항공우주산업 관련 기관을 집약할 수 있도록 모든 행정력을 집중하겠다”며 “KAI가 경남은 물론 우리나라 항공우주의 진일보한 발전을 위해 더욱 힘써달라”고 당부했다.
