[브레이크뉴스=이성용 기자] 경남도가 정부의 수확기 시장격리곡 매입계획에 따라 도내 시장격리곡 6만500톤을 연말까지 추가로 매입한다고 12일 밝혔다.
통계청 발표 9월 15일 기준 산지 쌀값은 4만725원/20㎏으로 지난해 동기 5만4,228원 보다 1만3,503원이나 하락해, 1977년 관련 통계 조사 이후 전년 동기 대비로는 가장 큰 폭의 하락세를 나타낸 바 있다.
이번 수확기 시장격리 물량은 전국적으로 62만 5,000톤으로 2005년 공공비축제 도입 이후 역대 최대 물량이다.
정부의 이번 조치는 쌀값 회복을 통해 시름이 깊은 벼 재배농가의 경영안정을 도모하기 위한 특단의 조치로 풀이된다.
도는 우선 농협과 민간 산지유통업체가 보유한 2021년 구곡 5,500톤을 매입함으로써 구곡 재고를 소진하면서 신곡 보관여석도 확보해 나갈 계획이다.
더불어 2022년산 신곡 5만 5000톤도 현재 매입중인 공공비축미 9만여 톤과 같은 가격으로 매입해 수확기에 시장에 풀리게 될 물량을 최소화시켜 쌀값 안정의 기회로 적극 활용한다는 방침이다.
경남도 정연상 농정국장은 “정부의 선제적인 수확기 시장격리곡 추가 매입계획을 매우 환영한다"며 "이번 조치가 쌀값 하락세를 멈추고 쌀값 안정을 통해 벼 재배농가의 걱정을 크게 덜어 줄 것으로 기대한다”고 밝혔다.
이어 “시장격리곡 매입대상도 시군별 공공비축미 매입대상 2개 품종과 같으며 지정된 품종 이외 품종으로 출하할 경우 향후 5년간 공공비축미와 시장격리곡 매입 대상에서 제외되는 불이익이 따를 수 있으니 농업인들의 각별한 주의가 필요하다”고 덧붙였다.
