지난 10월 7일부터 16일까지 세종시에서 개최된 ‘2022 대한민국 정원산업박람회’ 가 성황리 막을 내렸다.
1세종시가 주관하고 산림청이 주최한 이번 ‘2022 대한민국 정원산업박람회’ 는 43만 명의 관람객이 다녀가면서 열흘간 진행된 박람회가 세종의 정원을 전국에 알렸다.
특히 이번 박람회에서는 코리아가든쇼가 진행돼 관람객들의 눈길을 끌었다.
‘코리아가든쇼’는 지난 2014년부터 실력 있는 정원디자이너들을 발굴하고 육성하기 위해 개최됐다.
코리아가든쇼에서는 대한민국 최고의 작가들이 참여해 일상 속 정원을 표현한 수준 높은 작품들을 출품했고, 세종중앙공원 내에 전시함으로써 일반 관람객들의 시선의 지평을 넓혔다.

최종 8명의 작가들을 대상으로 공정한 심사를 거쳐 올해 대상작으로는 이소원 정원디자이너의 ‘인터미션’이 선정됐다.
세종시는 이번 정원박람회 연계 행사로는 세종축제, 전국노래자랑, 조경가드닝 민간기능경기대회, 세종전의묘목축제, 대한민국 정원식물 전시·품평회, 한국분재대전, 목재페스티벌, 드론경기대회, 낙화놀이 등이 열려 풍성한 볼거리를 제공했다.

이와 함께 전국 60개의 기업과 지역 155개 농가·기업이 판로 확보를 위한 홍보의 장으로 이번 박람회를 활용해 산업 박람회로써의 내실을 다지는데 기여했다.
세종시는 이번 박람회를 계기로 중부권 최대 정원관광 도시 구축을 위해 중앙공원을 정원 콘셉트로 조정하고, 지방 정원 등록 운영과 국가 정원 승격 등 단계적 절차를 밟아 나간다는 방침이다.
