[브레이크뉴스=이성용 기자] 경남경찰청은 26일 경남경찰청 인권위원회 신규 위원장 위촉식과 함께 4차 정기회의를 개최했다고 밝혔다.
위원장을 포함한 위원들은 이날 회의에서 최근 경남경찰이 추진한 주요 인권정책에 대해 공유하고, 위원회의 역할 강화 필요성과 함께 향후 위원회의 활동을 강화하는 방안에 대해 토의했다.
정지민 신임 위원장은 “경찰의 수사권 조정?자치경찰제 시행 등으로 경찰권한이 확대되면서 인권침해 위험성도 커졌다. 이에 경남도민의 인권침해 예방과 보호를 위해서는 경찰교육 강화와 함께 유관기관협력을 통한 모니터링 시스템을 강화해 나가야 할 것”이라고 당부했다.
김병수 경남청장은 “경찰의 인권보호의식은 완전히 달라졌다. 경남경찰의 미흡한 부분을 개선하는 소극적인 인권보호 활동에 그치지 않고 선제적?예방적 인권보호 활동을 통해 인권패러다임의 변화를 위해 노력하겠으며, 위원회의 도움을 받아 시민들에게 인권 친화적 경찰로서 지지와 존중을 받을 수 있도록 최선 다할 것”이라고 밝히고, 전문가로 구성된 인권위원의 지속적인 관심과 협조를 부탁했다.
