브레이크뉴스 정명훈 기자= 국방부는 11일 한국이 미국을 통해 우크라이나에 155mm 포탈 10만발을 전달했다는 외신 보도와 관련 "미국을 최종 사용자로 한다는 전제 하에 탄약 수출 협의가 진행 중"이라고 반박했다.
국방부는 이날 "미국이 부족해진 155㎜ 탄약 재고량을 보충하기 위해 우리 업체와 탄약 수출 협의를 진행 중이다"라며 이같이 밝혔다.
그러면서 "우크라이나에 살상무기를 지원하지 않는다는 정부 방침에는 변함이 없다"고 했다.
미국은 현재까지 155mm 곡사포 142문과 155mm 포탄 92만4000발을 우크라이나에 지원했다고 공식 발표한 바 있다.
미국은 이로 인해 포탄 재고량이 불안할 정도로 낮아진 것으로 알려져 있다. 더욱이 코로나 펜데믹으로 인해 생산 또한 속도를 내지 못해 포탄 재고 부족은 보다 심해진 상황이다.
