혼란한 나라의 안녕을 기원하는 천일기도를 두 번이나 하고 있는 부산 감천문화마을의 ‘관음정사’ 주지 보우 스님이 시집 『화살이 꽃이 되어』(작가마을시인선 56)를 출간했다. 보우 스님은 지난 2014년에도 문단의 어른들과 지인들을 미리 찾아본 뒤 국태민안의 천일기도에 들어 간 바 있다. 지난 2020년 9월 무렵, 차기 대권후보들의 활개와 특정 권력층의 기득권 싸움으로 세상이 시끄러워지자 불안을 느껴 다시 천일기도를 시작했다. 해제일은 오는 12월 25일이다. 천일기도는 하루 3회이고 새벽과 낮 시간과 저녁시간이다. 법당에서 천일 동안 하루도 쉬지 않고 기도를 올리는 것은 아주 힘든 수행이다. 또한 보우 스님은 천일기도에 들어가면서 새롭게 나라의 안녕을 기원하는 시편들을 쓰기 시작했고 200편중, 이번에는 80편 먼저 골라 시집을 펴내게 되었다. 보우 시인의 시집 『화살이 꽃이 되어』는 제목이 암시하듯 세상의 불균형들을 소통과 화합의 꽃으로 변주하는 불교적 세계를 바탕에 둔 선사(禪師)적 서정시들을 주로 묶어냈다. 그러나 시적 외형은 그다지 불교 색체를 드러내지 않고 있어 스님의 시라기 보다는 일반적인 서정시에 가깝다.
